Fired clay, photocopy transfer on Plexiglas, sawdust and glue on wood.
In the weeks following September 11th, I sawed and hammered and smashed this work out to deal with my anger. I became one with the woman, already living on the edge of society, as witness to the ensuing pandemonium. The work was so powerful that people turned away from it, not able to deal with the terror; so I packed it away. On the 5th anniversary, I installed it with my recent work and realised this was the genesis of my warrior women. |
